China Expands its Broadband Leadership in 2Q08
At the end of 2Q08, global fixed broadband subscribers exceeded 370 million. China continues to expand its lead as the single largest broadband country with nearly 80 million subscribers, followed by the United States with 68.8 million and Japan with 29.6 million subscribers.
DSL remains the most widely deployed broadband technology, representing 66 percent of total subscribers, while cable modem subscribers represent 21 percent, and other broadband technologies (Fiber-to-the-X, two-way satellite, broadband power line and fixed broadband wireless) represent 13 percent.
