GENBAND Intros New Gateway
GENBAND announced the S9™ IP gateway,
uniquely integrating session, security, and deep packet inspection in an
efficient design that provides unmatched scale and flexibility, as well as
energy and space efficiency. The 14-slot S9 Multimedia IP platform complements
the company’s existing two-slot, ATCA-based S2™ Gateway. Both the S2 and S9
build on GENBAND's extensive experience in providing carrier grade,
best-in-class IP infrastructure gateway technology with over 50 million gateway
ports deployed world-wide.
The GENBAND S9 SBC provides a comprehensive increase in capacity, including
signaling bandwidth of up to 12Gbps, media bandwidth up to 24Gbps and up to
150,000 concurrent sessions and 900 Calls Per Second. The tier-one,
carrier-class SBC capabilities include peering/interconnect and access; superior
protocol and network interworking and interoperability; multi-level security for
networks and applications; session and service level visibility via real time
analytics; carrier grade redundancy; and Fault, Configuration, Accounting,
Performance, Security (FCAPS) management via the widely-used GenView™ EMS.
GENBAND's S9 platform provides network border solutions for fixed and mobile and
operators, integrating high value, closely-aligned features that control
signaling and voice or multimedia streams between end users and the network
operator, or between network operators. The S9 provides the security, QoS and IP
mobility required to manage new revenue-generating voice and multimedia services
for IP-based applications, including: Femtocell, Voice over WiMAX, Voice over
WiFi/WLAN access, Secured VoIP Access (UNI), Secured IP Network Interconnect or
VoIP Peering (NNI), Secured IM, Presence, Messaging, Gaming and IPTV.
The S9 hardware is a carrier-class Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA)
chassis. It offers full high-availability (HA) with sub-second failover and
supports hot-swappable components, with in-service platform upgrades
