RAD Joins FSAN
RAD Data Communications has become a member
of the Full Service Access Network (FSAN) Group. RAD will participate at FSAN’s
upcoming meeting, which takes place September 8-11 in Shanghai.
Founded in 1995 by seven operators, FSAN is a telecommunications industry
interest group that works towards a common goal of truly broadband fiber access
networks. FSAN’s mission is to encourage the incorporation of applicable
standards, where they already exist, into industry services and products, while
simultaneously advancing its own specifications in appropriate standard bodies
to advance the further definition of the Full Service Access Network. FSAN has
more than 70 vendor, operator, and independent test lab members, which are now
addressing interoperability of GPON (gigabit rate passive optical networking)
and the seamless migration between generations of PON.
RAD is empowering its extensive fiber portfolio with new GPON solutions. RAD’s
portfolio includes Ethernet demarcation equipment, fiber extension solutions,
fiber optic modems, fiber optic multiplexers, point-to-point campus
applications, dedicated solutions for utilities, and pseudowire gateways that
transport TDM circuits over packet switched infrastructure. The company
maintains a research and development unit in Beijing, China, that is
specifically dedicated to PON technology.
