FTTH Represents 46% of total Broadband in Japan at end of 2Q08

For the quarter ending June 30, 2008, total broadband subscribers in Japan reached 29.3 million, representing a two percent growth rate.  Total DSL subscribers now account for 42 percent of total subscribers, while FTTH has reached 46 percent and cable is 13.5 percent. Overall net additions were up over 1Q08, but remain significantly lower that previous quarters.  Penetration of broadband has reached 56 percent of total households.  Total FTTH Subscribers have now reached 13.1 million, DSL was 12.3 million, while cable modem was 3.95 million at the end of 2Q08.
