Bridgewater Offers Dynamic Session Management for WiMAX
Bridgewater Systems announced a dynamic
session management solution, which gives WiMAX service providers greater
visibility and management of their WiMAX subscribers and network resources, by
managing the number of simultaneous active sessions per account or device. This
allows operators to reduce fraudulent activity resulting from multiple,
simultaneous subscriber sessions per account on their WiMAX networks, as well as
enabling flexible service offerings.
Bridgewater's subscriber data management capabilities enable a real time view of
subscribers based on static, dynamic and usage-based data. This allows service
providers to control the number of simultaneous sessions per subscriber in real
time, and enable intelligent decisions about allowing each session access to the
WiMAX network based on dynamic information about the subscriber, as well as
subscriber entitlement information based on their service plan.
The Bridgewater session management solution eliminates fraudulent usage
resulting from multiple, simultaneous subscriber IDs accessing the network,
which can lead to revenue leakage and abuse of network resources. The solution
also enables WiMAX service providers to offer subscription plans which allow a
pool of subscribers to access the network sharing a common account. For
instance, a "family plan", or "enterprise plan" might allow a group of
subscribers in a family or business to be registered on the network, but only
allow a subset of them to be active on the WiMAX network at any point in time in
exchange for a different subscription service.
"Bridgewater's leading dynamic subscriber data management solutions provide
operators vital real-time information on their subscribers and affords us a
unique perspective in deploying dynamic solutions for WiMAX service providers in
developing, and developed markets," said Phil Thrasher, senior vice president
worldwide sales, services and marketing, Bridgewater Systems. "This new session
management solution allows operators to better manage their WiMAX network in
real time, create new service offerings for their subscribers, while addressing
concerns over fraudulent usage of precious network resources."
