Verizon's Broadband Net Adds Nose Dive, DSL Negative

Verizon announced its quarterly earnings today, including its subscriber adds for FiOS, DSL and FiOS TV.  Verizon ended the2Q08 with 8.330 million broadband subscribers, which include 1.990 million FiOS and 6.565 million DSL subscribers.  FiOS TV subscribers grew to 1.382, representing 69 percent of FiOS subscribers.  At the end of 2Q08, FiOS subscribers accounted for 24 percent of total broadband subscribers.

 

After rapid declines in DSL net additions, Verizon finally experienced negative growth, as DSL subscribers declined by 133,000 over the previous quarter.  As shown, overall net additions continue to decline, despite the addition of FiOS TV subscribers.
